Every tried to find a babysitter? It can be more difficult than you think. If grandma is going out for the evening and the big cousin has got a date, it can often mean another boring Saturday night in front of the TV.
How to find a babysitter
A couple of weeks ago I was talking to a friend of mine told me that she’d been able to get a good babysitter through the Find A Baby Sitter website.
Find a Baby Sitter lets you search for local babysitters, all of whom have had background checks including DBS (formerly CRB checks) and who have references from other parents. All my friend had to do was fill in the search form and up came a list of babysitters in her area, each with a profile telling her about themselves: their experience, prices and references. There was also a photo, so she knew what they looked like. She then contacted the person she liked the most and luckily she was available on the night.
Perfect service
As promised the babysitter turned up on time, presented her DBS check on arrival, together with identification. My friend gave her a quick tour of the house, told her the bedtime routine and where supper was to be found and introduced her to the children. That was it – off to the party!
On returning home, the kids were fast asleep, the toys had been tidied up and the supper plates had been washed, dried and put away.
Added bonus
The day after, when our friend went to write the babysitter a reference on the Find a Babysitter website she looked at the other services the babysitter offered and one of them was cleaning. From the way the house had been left on the night, she knew she’d be good cleaner too. So now she comes once a week and gives the house a good old tidy. So now my friend has a babysitter when grandma is out on the town and a tidy home when she come home on a Friday. Bonus!

Another company that offers the same excellent service is Sitters, which has been running a babysitting service for almost fifty years. Just the same as Find a Babysitter, sitters also ensures all their babysitters are thoroughly background checked and its website allows you to search for sitters in your local area.
